Quantum Hall Pass

A Wacky Y2K Coming-of-Age Time Travel Musical !!

ARTWORK BY SAMI KERWIN !!

HUGE NEWS !!!

Quantum Hall Pass is being produced developmentally for the second time by the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab !!!! ☆

Carolina’s original musical is being warped into another time and place: The Lab’s Table Reading Series !! Featuring dramaturgical collaboration, 8 Latiné actors will cold read the musical in full and demos will be played to showcase the INCREDIBLE BANGERS with Music & Lyrics by Conor James and Arrangements/Orchestrations by Michael Mastroianni. Followed by the reading, there will be an opportunity for feedback, discussion, and community time. The most important kind of time !

These presentations are read for a live, in-person audience in partnership with the Dramatists Guild Foundation & sponsored by the Miranda Family Fund.♡

SYNOPSIS:

10-year-old genius Bela Salto just accidentally invented a wristwatch time machine! Fearing its power, she hides it away until puberty and peer pressure come knocking at the door. Can she tamper with time responsibly? Or will she fall victim to her own flawed invention?...She can't go back once she's leapt forward!

We follow Bela at 3 different points in her life, 10, 14, then 39!! Quantum Hall Pass is a wacky Y2K coming-of-age time-travel adventure that encourages us to believe in our brilliance.

Writer’s Note:

Quantum Hall Pass is a musical to both mourn & celebrate the impermanance & beauty of humanity. It's also a silly little 2-Act musical that feels like 13 Going On 30 meets Click!! It is a special and heartfelt work that I wrote over the pandemic. I got my 2 best friends from high school and college to collaborate with me and write original music. We produced a demo EP and put up a concert version December ‘22; it was a hit and we are excited to move forward with more readings and development!

My mission is to break the stereotype of what a POC/BIPOC/TGNC-led musical can be. This piece positions us as exceptional, intelligent, and empowered as told by people of all colors and genders. The best way to achieve this is through collaboration and constant growth with an open heart!!!

Thank you for your time and interest :)

with love and gratitude,

CAROLINA MIRANDA !!!
